Dear cherished customers and stakeholders, the year 2016 presents to us another opportunity to work together in partnership to enhance our collective interests and secure the future and well-being of our people. We believe that it is only in partnership that we can succeed in this globalized world. We however want this partnership to be built on a shared responsibility where NEDCo continues to provide efficient service and our customers and stakeholders discharge their responsibility of promptly paying their bills, protecting our network against bush fires, exposing such negative activities as power theft through illegal connections and vandalizing our property, etc. We need to work together to ensure that NEDCo continues to perform its functions as the leading distribution utility within the sub-region even in the face of inadequate generation capacity.
In line with our mission of safely and reliably powering homes and businesses in northern Ghana and neighboring countries, we intend, in 2016 and beyond, to continue and pursue with fresher vigor and greater determination several key efficiency improvement initiatives started in 2015.In particular, we will intensify our Loss Reduction Activities in order to reduce our commercial losses. We will also continue to procure and install prepaid meters to replace the credit meters in the premises of our customers in the major towns in our operational areas. Again many more enterprises who wish to engage in Third Party Vending (TPVs)and meet our requirements will be licensedto partner us in bringing the sale of power to the doorsteps of customers. The Enterprise Geographic Information Systems (E-GIS) project is on course.Work in the Northern Area has been completed and part of Sunyani is going on steadily. The project aims at mapping up or capturing customers’ data on map for easy identification and prompt resolution of customer facing problems. We would again procure and inject new secondary substations in all our operational areas in order to improve our supply reliability.
We will further improve the use of information technology in our business processes to eliminate delays and improve our service delivery cycle time, especially in the areas of billing, new service connections and faults resolution. We intend to automate our new service application forms so that prospective customers can acquire the formswithout physically coming to our offices.
Dear customers and stakeholders, it would require huge capital injection to translate the above-mentioned activities into reality. This is where your support, contributions and suggestions matter most to us. We believe that no contribution is considered too small. As the saying goes “little drops of water make a mighty ocean.” It is our hope that as partners, you would endeavour to fulfill your terms of the agreement. On our part, we would continue to honour our obligation of providing effective and efficient services to all. We need to support each other and share in the responsibility of shouldering the common good to the benefits of all.
Our dear customers and tireless stakeholders, I cannot end this message without congratulating you for co-operation, support and contributions over the past years. It is my expectation that this spirit of co-operation will be deepened in the coming year and beyond so that, together, we can raise the living standards of the people in our operational area by reliably and safely powering their homes and businesses. On behalf of the Management and staff of NEDCo and on my own behalf, I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year. |
